Wreck Diving

Details:

The island's history is deeply intertwined with the famous exile of Napoleon Bonaparte, and visitors can still explore the sites associated with his time on the island. Saint Helena Island is also renowned for its warm and welcoming community, making it an inviting place to immerse oneself in the island's charm and hospitality.

Most diving is on the sheltered side of the island, with long shallow (10-20m deep) rocky reefs, very little tide or current (water temperature ranges 18-25 degrees C), masses of different fish, lots of interesting macro life, great wrecks and the potential to see some of the world’s most amazing large marine animals both above and underwater.

History & Heritage Tours

The island’s remote location meant it was used as a place of exile for key prisoners, including some 6,000 Boers, King Dinuzulu, Bahraini princes and Napoleon, who died on St Helena. The island also played an important role during the abolition of slavery. St Helena’s heritage provides a significant legacy of fortifications, remains, historic buildings, and what has been described as “the quintessential Atlantic port” – Jamestown.  In the capital of Jamestown, several buildings are listed because of their historic importance while Main Street has been described as ‘one of the best examples of unspoiled Georgian architecture anywhere in the world.

The Peaks National Park

Visit the Peaks National Park which is home to the remnants of an ancient cloud forest. It holds approximately 250 species that are found nowhere else on Earth. It offers a unique wilderness experience in an area that has been voted one of St Helena’s ‘Seven Wonders’.
