The PADI Forum: 4 May 2023

Our group of Career Development students were given the opportunity to accompany our instructors, Marius Wolfaardt and Mari van Wyk, along with divemasters Katia Theron and Jaco Greyling, to the annual PADI Forum. The forum took place at the Two Oceans Aquarium Oceans Aquarium.

Although the forum invites dive pros only, we were lucky enough to be the exception on this occasion, and what luck it was. Sitting among dive professionals, all from different places with different stories, this exclusive event brought us all together to celebrate the passions we all have in common: our love for diving and our desire to improve the life residing in the ocean.

With the scenery set at the aquarium, and ragged-tooth sharks swimming in the background, the atmosphere was filled with the desire to improve our education, grow our community and seek ways to raise awareness for those with a heart ready to give. There were lots of laughs, suggestions shared and new adventures introduced, allowing a bonding moment with strangers who all came together with a common goal.

Listening very intently...

We all felt very important, sitting with our instructors, and listening to all the ways the PADI organization is developing and expanding. I know that I felt as if I was growing with the organization, learning so many new things running in the background; things I would have never even reconsidered to think about.

It was truly an evening to remember, with growing anticipation of what to expect from PADI in the upcoming year.
